Donatello (1383-1466) : Early Italian Renaissance
Donatello, like Dante, worked in Florence, roughly 80 years after Dante. Comparing his Early Italian Renaissance work to the Middle and Late Italian Renaissance works of Michelangelo and Bernini can give us a visual means of situating Dante in the larger Renaissance Movement. Consider then that Donatello's work represents cutting edge Renaissance vision, and Dante predates Donatello.
