Geography 401: Climatology

Geography 401 provides an in-depth view of the physical, chemical and biological basis for the Earth’s climate system.  Geography 401 is divided into three overall pieces.  First, we will uncover the physical basis of the global climate system and the primary processes that control climate both globally and at local scales.  Secondly, we will address causes and consequences the history of global climate through paleoclimatic datasets. Finally, we will examine climate modeling and projected changes in physical climate from both a regional and global perspective.  We will also use climate datasets and computer programming to examine climate data in the context of ecological, hydrological and sector-based applications.
