  • Sept. 2020, Dr. Mirkouei joined the editorial board of MDPI Sustainability Journal (ISSN 2071-1050; CODEN: SUSTDE), Impact Factor 2.57 (link). 
  • May 2020, Dr. Mirkouei's proposal, entitled "Engineered, Porous-Structured Biochar for Removing Phosphorus in Water: Production, Characterization, and Sustainable Treatment," is selected for funding by United States Geological Survey Section 104(b) grant.
  • April 2020, Dr. Mirkouei served in NSF proposal review panel for CISE/OAC program.
  • March 2020, Dr. Mirkouei's collaborative proposal, entitled "Multi-level chemical fractionation scheme to enable in-depth characterization of bio-oil," is accepted by National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (MagLab).
  • Feb. 2020, Dr. Mirkouei received travel award from NSF to attend 7th Int’l Forum on "Sustainable Manufacturing in the Industry 4.0 Era," in Lexington, KY and present "An Adaptive Cyber-physical Sensing, Control, and Optimization Platform for Biofuel 4.0" (link). 
  • Jan. 2020, Dr. Mirkouei serves as an Organizer of "Design of Energy and Thermal Systems Symposium," for ASME IDETC/CIE, 25th DFMLC.
  • Jan. 2020, Dr. Mirkouei serves as a Search Committee Member for open rank position in Energy and Industrial Ecology at UI.

  • October 2019, Dr. Mirkouei attended “Made Here Expo,” by Southwest Idaho Manufacturers' Alliance (SWIMA) in Nampa, ID.
  • August 2019, Dr. Mirkouei attended ASME 2019 IDETC/CIE Conference in Anaheim, CA, and presented two articles.
  • April 2019, Dr. Mirkouei received the MYS award to travel to Washington, D.C. and visit NSF and USDA Program Directors and Managers.
  • Feb. 2019, Dr. Mirkouei's CAES Summer Visiting proposal, entitled "Advanced Conversion Processes and Characterization Approaches for Efficient Biofuel Production," is selected for funding.
  • Jan. 2019, Dr. Mirkouei serves as an Organizer of "Design and Analysis of Energy Storage and Conversion Systems Symposium" at ASME 2019 IDETC/CIE, 24th DFMLC.
  • Jan. 2019, Dr. Mirkouei serves as the Safety Committee Head at UI-Idaho Falls campus.

  • Oct. 2017, Dr. Mirkouei attended Tri-State (Oregon State University, Washington State University, and University of Idaho) Food-Energy-Water (FEW) Workshop in Hermiston, Oregon, representing U of I for addressing FEW research challenges.
  • Oct. 2017, the Innovative Design and Manufacturing Laboratory (IDeaL) was founded. IDeaL has a fully functional shared lab space within the ACL 210 at CAES and CHE Building at the UI, Idaho Falls campus. Dr. Mirkouei serves as the Lab director.
  • Aug. 2017, Dr. Mirkouei received the Paper Review Coordinator Appreciation Award from ASME 2017 IDETC/CIE, 22nd DFMLC.
  • Aug. 2017, Dr. Mirkouei attended ASME 2017 IDETC/CIE conference in Cleveland, Ohio.
  • June 2017, Dr. Mirkouei attended the "Produced Water-Rare Earth Element Working Group Meeting" at Uni of Wyoming, Laramie.
