MATLAB (MATrix LABoratory) is a high-performance language for technical computing. Historically, engineers may have used programming languages like Fortran, C, C++, Pascal, etc. for simulating and solving problems. However, MATLAB has some very powerful computation, visualization, and programming tools allowing engineers access to improved data manipulation, debugging tools, and object-oriented programming. MATLAB is the software tool of choice for most high-power computational problems.
