• Research Summary

My research is focused at the intersection of Agriculture, Energy, and Environment, as shown below

    Quick facts

    • On average, United States uses about 13 hp of power per capita continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Compared to this, an average human can produce only about 0.1 hp during 8 hours of work.
    • The world's proven reserve of petroleum in 2017 was 1645 billion barrels.
    • The world's daily petroleum production is 98 million barrels per day. With this rate of extraction, oil reserve will be exhausted in 46 years!!!
    • China is the largest consumer of energy (About 35% more than the US) and GHG emitter (About twice as much than the US)
    • Agriculture contributes about 9% of the GHG emissions.
    • Life cycle analysis shows that use of biodiesel reduces GHG emissions by 80% compared to petroleum diesel.
    • The world's population growth is 1.16% while agricultural (and food) production growth is at 2.8%. Biofuel provides a market for excess agricultural production.
